AI Score Methodology

Current formula version: 2.0.

AI Score is a composite measure of a crypto project's AI profile strength on a scale from 0 to 100. It provides a consistent basis for comparison, but it does not estimate future returns and is not investment or trading advice.

Score components

1. AI role — up to 35 points

The base weight is determined by AI Relevance. Core AI Protocol and AI-Native Layer-1 / Blockchain receive up to 35 points, AI Infrastructure 30, Applied AI / Agentic Applications 26, AI-Enabled / Peripheral 12, and Non-AI / Remove 0. Classification is conservative and based on public technical sources.

2. Taxonomy depth — up to 25 points

Each verified AI Stack term adds 3 points and each AI Technique term adds 2 points. The component is capped at 25. More tags are not automatically better: only terms from the controlled AI Coin Map taxonomy are used.

3. GitHub profile — up to 20 points

Up to 12 points use a logarithmic scale for GitHub followers, and up to 8 points use the number of public repositories. The logarithmic scale reduces the advantage of very large accounts. If verified GitHub data is unavailable, this component is zero.

4. Market data — up to 20 points

Up to 12 points use a logarithmic market-cap scale from USD 1 million to USD 1 trillion. Up to 8 points depend on the ratio of 24-hour volume to market capitalisation. If valid market-cap data is unavailable, this component is zero.

Safeguards and limitations

  • Only published projects with a CMC ID and mandatory AI Relevance classification are scored.
  • AI-Enabled / Peripheral and Non-AI / Remove projects without GitHub data are capped at 45 points.
  • A new score is not applied when the required market snapshot fails completeness or freshness checks.
  • Market data and GitHub metrics may be delayed or contain source errors.

How to interpret AI Score

  • 75–100: high composite AI profile.
  • 50–74: medium composite AI profile.
  • Below 50: weak or limited AI profile.
